The coordinators of the four (4) different arms of the Pontifical Mission Societies:
Pontifical Society for the Propagation of Faith (POF), Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood A(HCA),Pontifical Society of St Peter Apostles and Pontifical Missionary Union of Priest and Religious (PMU) met at the Resource Centre, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Durumi Abuja for their annual general meeting from the 24th to the 27th of January, 2023.
The opening Mass was presided over by the PMS National Director, Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Patrick Zaku on the feast of the conversion of St. Paul.

The Holy Father Pope Francis has graciously appointed a new PMS National Director for Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Solomon Zaku
Fr. Solomon who is from Maiduguri Diocese was received at the PMS National Office in Abuja on Tuesday 16th of June 2020.
He was happily welcomed in a grand style by the PMS members of staff led by the outgoing National Director, Very Rev. Fr. George Ajana who has been the PMS National Director for the past ten (10)years.
We thank him very immensely for his good work for the Church and pray for God's guidance as he bows out of the Office.

It was a joyous home coming for the PMS National Director Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Patrick Zaku as he had a wonderful moment with the HCA and YOMM Members of Maiduguri Diocese. Fr. Zaku was the Diocesan Director of Pontifical Mission Societies Maiduguri Diocese before his appointment by the Holy see as National Director early last year. This is the first official gathering with his PMS Family in Maiduguri since his appointment. The members of HCA and YOMM appreciated him immensely for the wonderful work he did among them for about Ten years. They prayed and wish him well in his National Assignment. Since 1922, the Pontifical Mission Societies have been the official missionary arm of the Catholic Church. The Four Pontifical Mission Societies have been given the responsibility by the Pope (hence the name ‘Pontifical’) to support the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the work of charity and social improvement around the world. The societies promote awareness, prayer, sacrifice and fundraising to support worldwide Catholic mission.
